Author Talk by Eric D. Lehman - New England Nature
Since its founding four hundred years ago, New England has been a vital source of nature writing. Maybe it’s the diversity of landscapes huddled so close together or the marriage of nature and culture in a relatively small, six-state region. Maybe it’s the regenerative powers of the ecosystem in a place of repeated exploitations. Or maybe we have simply been thinking about our relationship with the natural world longer than everyone.
University of Bridgeport Professor Lehman has assembled the writings of 60 authors - both famed and unknown - who contemplate their natural surroundings in our region. Lehman's work is a perfect complement to North Woods, a fictional account that similarly tracks changes to nature over the centuries.
Professor Lehman is sure to provide a thought-provoking and enjoyable evening. He also will have copies of New England Nature available to purchase and signature.

New Guidelines on Program Attendance
We understand that sometimes, unexpected instances can occur that may prevent you from attending a program that you registered for. If you find that you are unable to attend an event, please give us a call, email us, or cancel your registration online. This will afford others who would like to attend, the opportunity to participate.
Unfortunately, absences without prior notification and extreme tardiness have been hindering library staff from carrying out programs to the best of our abilities. Even more importantly, these disruptive behaviors are undermining the positive experiences of other participants. The Library's Patron Behavior Policy explicitly states that behavior that “interferes with the enjoyment of the library by other individuals” can result in adverse consequences.
Therefore, we feel it’s important to announce our new guidelines for program attendance. Beginning on July 1st, any registrant for an adult program who is a “no-show” and/or is more than 15 minutes late for two events will subsequently be moved to the waitlist for the next program they register for.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping make our library programs pleasurable and meaningful for all.
