The American Job Center will be bringing its mobile Career Coach to the library for this workshop.
The Career Coach makes weekly visits to cities and towns in CT in coordination with community organizations. When you step aboard the Career Coach, you are greeted by expert staff and seated at one of ten (10) computer workstations. Come aboard and use our high speed Internet access, and print resources at no cost to you!
A 1-hour presentation followed by an individual resume critique during the second hour.
The workshop will highlight how to create a powerful, up-to-date resume and use it as a marketing tool to land a job interview.
Covered in the session:
- Understanding the Applicant Tracking System. What is it? How do companies use it to sift through piles of resumes and screen candidates? How to beat it using keywords and formatting
- Updating the language on your resume with action verbs; saying goodbye to over-used phrases
- The importance of cover letters
- Best free resources to help with formatting a resume
Come to the workshop with a copy of your current resume and get to work on updating and improving it!
