Event Details
The Brookfield Library is delighted to showcase author Gail Howard whose memoir White Wife/Blue Baby chronicles the heated political and racial turmoil of America in late 1960s. During this time, the unmarried Howard found herself pregnant with a black man's baby. His excitement at the news contrasted sharply with Gail's family's abhorrence. Her subsequent marriage was tested by the significant racial animus they faced. Further complicating matters was Gail's newborn daughter's health crisis. Join us for this powerful author talk. Copies of White Wife/Blue Baby will be available for sale at the event.
